Sandra Dibble
is an award winning journalist who has traveled around the globe
covering news. Since 1994 she has graced readers of the San
Diego Union Tribune with her extensive reporting on Baja California.
She covers the city of Tijuana, the state of Baja California
and border issues. Prior to her stint in San Diego, Dibble served
as a writer for National Geographic Magazine from 1991-1994.
She specialized in Latin American issues, covering Paraguay
and Oaxaca.
From 1981 to 1991 Dibble was a reporter for the Miami Herald,
specializing in immigration issues and coverage of Cuban,
Nicaraguan and Haitian communities.
Dibble loves to learn. Her education is extensive. From 1987-
1988 Dibble attended an eight month fellowship program at
the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. She spent
time covering issues in Los Angeles and three months in Mexico
City.
Ms. Dibble also earned an M.S. in journalism from Columbia
University’s Graduate School of Journalism in New York
City in 1981 and a B.A I Arabic and minor in English from
the University of Utah in Salt Lake City
Dibble earned a prestigious Pulitzer Prize for National
Reporting
in 1987 for her contribution to a five-person team covering
Regan administration’s clandestine support for the Nicaraguan
rebels.
Sandra resides in San Diego and is a member of the California
Chicano News Media Association and the National Association
of Hispanic Journalists.
